Woohoo! It’s New Years Day! Last night we went to a friend’s house for food and drinks, then to our bar to ring in the New Year. It was fun, perhaps too much fun based on how I feel today. It doesn’t help that it’s cold, gray and rainy outside. But that’s ok, it’s football day!
Usually, this is the time when people make resolutions to improve themselves in the new year. Quit doing something bad, do more of something good, etc. I don’t do resolutions, but I do have some goals for 2015. Some of them are carry-over goals from years past (i.e., I didn’t accomplish them). I’m still working on finalizing them, though, so I can’t share them.
I’m also working on finalizing my race plans for the year. I’ve signed up for a half in April already, and I have a good sense of my other running races. The big unknown is my triathlon schedule. Part of that is due to the fact that my ideal race may not happen. Normally registration opens December 1st, but the page still says “Info coming soon.” I know the venue is having some trouble (takes place at a hotel that has shut down), but I’m hoping they can get things together. It takes place in May, so they better figure it out soon. I’ve got other options, some in June and an Olympic in September that would be my A race, but I’m not ready to sign up yet.
I got some bike shoes for Christmas and I ordered clipless pedals, and I’m pretty excited to install them and get working on my bike. I’ll probably sign up for Trainer Road to help with my training this offseason. I’ve heard excellent things about it, and I know it is by far my weakest discipline.
